Gummy bear day!

Picture Prompt Story Writing by Sarah

This morning I got up and brushed my teeth and hair and grabed a peach but I forgot to change out of my pajamas. I was already late for work so I was in a rush, I wasn’t thinking straight without my morning coffee. Going to work wasn’t a hassle considering it was only two blocks away. It was a good thing it was goofy pants day because my boss would be really mad if I did this on any other day. My boss Carl has these silly days like goofy pants day but my favorite is gummy bear day! I work at a hospital, I’m a receptionist. The sink in one of the restrooms is broken and has been for a week now but the plummer my dad has been working on it. The pipe started leaking then the weird noises and then… nothing, no water. After that, three other sinks did this too. This kind of plumming problems stresses my dad out, he’s seventy-nine. My nephew, hanson came to work with me today and asked if he coud help with my dad and I let him, I don’t know why I let myself do that! Hanson was tightening the hose clamp and my dad went to one of the other bathrooms. Hanson was a bad boy and loosened a pipe and shoved some of his own gummy bears in it then re-tightened it. Two days later was gummy bear day! “Finished” said my dad from under the sink. Carl ran to the restroom and said “It’s an emergency!” so my dad stepped out and said through his long greasy beard “How is work go…” he was interupted by a loud high pitched scream. Carl opened the door and pointed to a sink filling with gummy bears! “That’s a good way to celebrate gummy bear day!” I said under my breath.tmp_15782-picture491934004

CAT TASTROPHY

One Friday night there was a very wet storm, thunder and lightning. Norm a twenty two year old loves dark places so he took his boots and and his coat and leaped out the front door. Norm got a cat three days ago, he doesn’t have a name for her yet so he ran to “Rooth State Park” to find a name. As Norm walked by the “Bench of Memory” he heard a faint chirp. Norm held his breath to listen closely and surely enough he heard that same chirp. Norm just new that it was a chirp of distress. Norm looked around and saw a small yellow baby bird under the bench! Right then Norm found a name for his cat, “Chirp”. He picked up the bird and realized two things, one, the birds wing is hurt, and two, he can’t return the bird! Norm went to a store to get a cage, a water bowl, and bird feed. When norm got home he went to his sock drawer where he keeps his emergency money. He took fifty bucks and headed to the vet. After three hours of waiting, a lady walked in the waiting room to interrupt Norm who was reading a book by Jake Dayton called “Catching a Cab” with his bird. “Thank you” said Norm, “your welcome, what’s your name?”  “um Norm, and you?” “Mary”. Norm started to walk away and suddenly ” wait!”, Mary got her business card and gave it to Norm and said “call me at six”. Norm rode a cab home to find Chirp fast asleep with everything intact, that’s a first! Norm remembered the park. ” You are Rooth” said Norm. The bird’s name is Rooth. Rooth was in the cage and Chirp was in her bed, Norm  bought to big of a cage so while Norm was asleep Rooth got out and flew to the kitchen! Rooth looked around and got some cat treats in her beak to get Chirp’s attention. Chirp followed Rooth to her cage and they went in it. Rooth went through and around to close the gate. Rooth sat on top of the cage that Chirp was in and started making sounds that woke Norm. Norm came out of his room and saw Rooth sitting on the cage and Chirp in it! Norm ran to get his camera, what a cat tastrophy!

Catching a Cab

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Elizabeth. She was a very strange girl. She loved knitting blankets, and grocery shopping, and reading the whole dictionary twice every day, but most of all, she loved making bets. She always won, and if she thought she would lose she didn’t take it. Her family was very wealthy so they lived in a house of 26,922 square feet along the waterfront. It was worth 148 million dollars. Her closet was the size of your average bedroom. Well, never mind all that, back to the main story. One sunny day in southern California, she was very bored so she went to the local marina to say hello to the fishermen. She loved hearing all there sea stories. She came down here often and talked to the same people but today, a new fisherman came to the marina. He had the ugliest, most beat up boat of all, and on the side it read “Taxi Charters”. Elizabeth, being herself, the friendly sort, went up and introduced herself before he had time to tie up. ” Hi, I’m Elizabeth, how are you”. He turned toward her and said ” Hello to you, I am Kaleb and I’m doing great”. He turned back, finished tying up the boat, sat down and asked “What are you doing on this fine Saturday morning”. ” Oh just talking to the ol’ guys”. After an hour of talking with each other she figured out he too liked making bets. They finished up and he ended their conversation with- “Well, I gotta catch a cab. Once I’m done I’ll go to the part store. My boat ran down, that’s why I’m here. But if my engine didn’t run down I wouldn’t meet you, so I guess its a blessing. Bye”. They lived in the quaint little town of Ruta Shores, so there weren’t any taxis driving around town so she responded with, ” Your not catch’n a cab around here”. He said, “You wanna bet”, and of course she took it. He waved and walked away. It was 8:00 pm so she returned to her house and went to bed. The next morning she woke up and went to find Kaleb. After 20 minutes of searching, she found him surf fishing on the rocky beach with his mooching pole, reeling in a big one. She walked up to him and he said, ” If I land this, I win the bet”. “What do you mean” she asked. He said, “I’m gonna catch a cab, like you told me too”. He pulled in the supposed taxi for 2 hours. He finally landed it. Elizabeth was surprised beyond imagination and for once she actually lost a bet.7d241c503d3a72bb2c28c006c5956ffd
