It’s been awhile since my last post because ‘WE HAVE BEEN BUSY!’
We are buttoning up some of the major projects as we prepare for our “Great Adventure.”
We finished the bow sprit and got the standing rigging and ground tackle in order. The roller furler is installed and with a new inner stay for a staysail with running backstays.
We decided to pull all house side DC and ran new home runs with fused substations at mid-ship and starboard side engine room. I still have to make a sub station for port side dc panel and tie in the wind generator and the inverter for all systems hot…
We got a good start on the canvas work and the rest will be done on the way.I needed a place to house the air compressor and generator and Diana didn’t want me to block off the aft cabin port windows, This was a fun build and I’m amazed at how many people throw away teak… So I gravel it up until I have enough for a project. This was a fun build and I again just started from the bottom up and removed everything that didn’t belong.
I’m the unruly neighbor that makes noise and dust all day, but I clean up at the end of each day so I think folks are just tolerating me, knowing we will depart soon… This was quite the bend… 3/32″ strips losing 1/8″ of wood for each cut Not bad for eyeing it and all free wood, old wood so it’s scarred up, beat up with random plug holes…. and that’s the way I like it…
HabiHoba now has new decals ‘Name and Hailing Port’ we are now legal to float. 🙂 Custom sails are measured and in the making, ‘Precision Sails’ out of Canada are on-board and excited about designing and making custom sails for our very unique vessel…
Time is short but we will make it… Our Departure date now rests in the hands of the sail makers . We are set and all we need is to test all systems on a shakedown in the San Juan Islands before we make the big left turn. Estimated departure is the 16th of Aug. 2016 with our first destination of San Diego Ca.
We have a couple Bon Voyage party events set up and everyone is welcome to join us.. We have a small stay-sail that we want all of our friends and family to sign so when we are on some of our longer passages and start missing everyone we can raise a sail and feel the love. I again want to thank everyone for being on-board with “HabiHoba’s Great Adventure” You have kept us motivated and we appreciate each and everyone of you… THANK YOU!
